La expansión de los dispositivos y equipamientos informáticos en distintas
ramas laborales, además de en la vida cotidiana, expone a los trabajadores a
padecer malestares y patologías que antes eran poco frecuentes. Nuevos
problemas físicos y psicológicos afectan cada vez más el normal
desenvolvimiento de las funciones laborales, por la creciente exposición a
pantallas. Bajo este contexto, esta investigación tiene como objetivo conocer el
impacto del uso creciente de pantallas en la aparición de síntomas asociados a
la fatiga visual digital. Para ello se realizó una encuesta a 80 trabajadores
expuestos en forma cotidiana a pantallas para cumplir sus funciones laborales.
La mayoría de los encuestados reveló haber padecido alguno de los síntomas
compatibles a esta patología, tras haber estado frente a una pantalla por más
de 5 horas. En función de esos resultados se exponen una serie de
recomendaciones desde la medicina laboral para atenuar y/o prevenir esta
creciente problemática.
The expansion of computer devices and equipment in various work sectors, as
well as in daily life, exposes workers to ailments and pathologies that were
previously rare. New physical and psychological problems are increasingly
affecting the normal performance of work duties due to the growing exposure to
screens. In this context, this research aims to understand the impact of the
increasing use of screens on the development of symptoms associated with
computer-induced eye strain. To this end, a survey was conducted with 80
workers who are exposed to screens daily to perform their job duties. The
majority of respondents reported experiencing some of the symptoms
associated with this condition after being in front of a screen for more than 5
hours. Based on these results, a series of recommendations from occupational
medicine are presented to mitigate and/or prevent this growing problem.
